my sweet prince

14 Apr

i sit in the room next to you and the sun has set on your third birthday. i can’t help but think of all the fun we’ve had up to now.

brand new boy

you surprised us by being a boy, you. we expected a girl since that’s all we knew, but were so thrilled to add a little man to the family.

until your bris the next week. i was fairly certain i wished you were a girl, then.

when we moved back to the midwest 6 short weeks later, you became my sunshine, my light in a rough time with no home to call our own. you got me through it all, baby boy.

soon enough, you showed us what it was like to have a boychild. you threw, you were loud, you climbed (oh, you climbed!) you hit. none of this was mean, just boisterous. the girls had been sedate compared to you. not to say they were easier since there were 2 of them, but they played more quietly and serenely. you are a whirling dervish of unending energy that spins me round and round.

i wouldn’t have you any other way.

i’m also fairly sure i’m glad my twins were girls.

2 of you might do me in.

long locks

your wit is spot on and you’re only 3.

your belly laugh is righteous and rivals that of louis skolnick.

you are so friendly with everyone and the world loves you for it.

you love chocolate like your mama.

you love to videotape your family like your papa.

you love life with gusto and it loves you right back.

you are passionate and i hope it serves you well, my son.

little boy with the chestnut eyes and sandy hair. prince of my heart. a happy third birthday to you. may we enjoy many more.

smiling at seder

goodnight, my sweet prince. i’ll find you in the morning.

A “boychild.” Soon he will be a man. Where does the time go?

    Hugs and Mocha,

I think that may have been one of the most beautiful things you have ever written. It comes from the heart. You can tell. Boys do rock. I should know. Your little tiger is adorable and lucky his mom loves him so. Boys always love their moms.

HE IS SO ADORABLE. I wish he and Chipmunk could play together.

This post was gorgeous and made me wibble a lot.
