i sent this quilt to the lovely amanda from the adorably named mand-a-lin (her blog & flickr stream
) through the doll quilt swap. this round was #7.
i had a ton of fun making something for someone else fusing their tastes with mine. she requested bright colors, so i gave her bright patterns improvisational pieced and surrounded by grey. i did machine stippling for the quilting, which i’m really enjoying and getting better at every time. one of these days, i’ll be brave enough to try pebbles.
i also sent her some scraps from the materials i used and some others because she mentioned in my flickr photo comments that she was going to try some wonky fat quarters like the 3rd installment of the old red barn quilt-a-long.she’s already used some of the fabrics to make those squares. very nice work, i might add.
when you make a doll quilt for a dqs, the person receiving the quilt from you has no idea that you are making it for them. turns out amanda had added my quilt as a favorite before she received it, so i knew it was going to someone who would love it.
A very beautiful quilt.
That is adorable!
I love this little guy! The owl is so cute and the backing is so interesting with that angle. Love it!
